Dorothy Lee Jenkins, age 82, passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2024, at Houston Medical Center in Warner Robins, Georgia. She was born on November 21, 1941, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Leland Wiggins and Evelyn Wydeck Martin.
Dorothy had a special place in her heart for horses, mini goats, and donkeys. Her love of nature extended to her passion for gardening, where her green thumb produced beautiful plants and flowers that she tended to with care, even in the days before her passing.
Dorothy was a social and outgoing spirit who never met a stranger. Her infectious laughter, quick wit, and playful nature made her a beloved friend to many. She worked for many years as an office manager for the American Red Cross, where she built lasting relationships with coworkers and volunteers alike. A proud member of the Red Hat Society, Dorothy relished in the camaraderie of her friends and fellow members.
Cooking was another one of Dorothy’s great joys, and she was famous for her comforting meals, especially her chicken and dumplings, homemade cornbread, and “Walter Pralines.” She delighted in feeding family and friends, always ensuring that no one left her home hungry.
Dorothy’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and service. She touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Thomas Jenkins; and three of her siblings.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her children, Eric Jenkins (Tammy) of Bonaire, and Glen Jenkins of Warner Robins; grandchildren, Erica Bowling (Christopher) and Nicholas Jenkins, all of Warner Robins, great-grandson on the way, Colton; six siblings, and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly request donations be given in memory of Dorothy to the RBA Appalachian Ministry, 744 Lake Joy Road, Warner Robins, Georgia 31088.
