Dorothy Mays

Dorothy Hunnicut Mays, 84, died on January 1, 2010.

Born on February 2, 1925, in Irwinton, she graduated from Irwinton High School in 1941. During World War II she met her husband Melvin E. Mays while he was stationed at Wellston Army Depot. She was a homemaker in Evans City, Pennsylvania, where her husband was postmaster. In 1971, she moved back to Macon where she served as general manager of Pick-Up-Meals. She relocated to Warner Robins at her retirement in 1994 where she lived independently until 2007. She was predeceased by her husband, Melvin Eugene Mays, parents, Early Curtis Hunnicutt and Lena McCrary Hunnicutt, and brothers, Earl Hunnicutt, Jr. and Charles Mack, Sr.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her daughters, Debra Rowe (Frank) Warner Robins and Sharon Pfeifer (Walter), Pennsylvania; son, Ronald Mays (Connie), Maryland; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Kathy Kersey (Phillip); brothers, Carlton Hunnicutt (Barbara), James Rufus Hunnicutt (Betty Jean), Donald Hunnicutt (Nancy) and Robert Hunnicutt (Joan); a number of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 4, 2010, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home, Deacon Jim Hunt officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to Sacred Heart Catholic Church Building Fund, 300 S. Davis Drive, Warner Robins GA 31088
