In the early morning hours of Easter Sunday, March 27, 2016, 67 year old Dwight Williams went to be with the Lord. He was born in Fairfax, South Carolina on May 31, 1948. With great pride and honor Dwight served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star Medals for his courageous service. Following his years of active duty, Dwight began his career as an accountant; first for the City of Allendale, South Carolina and then for the City of Centerville, Georgia, where he retired. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and most importantly, spending time with his beloved family. Dwight was a member of Fairfax First Baptist Church.
His father, William Grady Williams, Sr., and brother, William Grady Williams, Jr., preceded him in death.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of 44 years, Dianne Williams; daughter, Tonya R. Harter (Michael); grandchildren, Savanna and Samantha, all of Warner Robins; mother, Mary B. Williams of Fairfax, South Carolina; sister, Brenda Weaver (Cary) of Elizabeth, Colorado; brothers, Tony Williams (Lisa) of Woodstock, Georgia, and Timothy Williams of Hampton, South Carolina; aunt, Mary Alice Cox of Albany, Georgia; as well as several nieces, nephews, and other beloved family and friends.
Visitation with Dwight's family will be held on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A second visitation with Dwight's family will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Keith Smith Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 1, 2016 at First Baptist Church in Fairfax, South Carolina. Following the service, Dwight will be laid to rest in Swallow Savannah Cemetery with full military honors.
