Edith Ann (Awtrey) Sullivan

January 4, 1945 — December 30, 2021

Edith Ann (Awtrey) Sullivan, 76, of Perry, passed away on Thursday, December 30, 2021. Born January 4, 1945, in Dekalb County, she was the daughter of the late Chester and Georgia Awtrey. Edith grew up in Atlanta until age 20; she then moved to Smyrna where she would spend her next 20 years before finally settling in the Middle Georgia area. She was a proud Georgia girl!

Edith spent her life raising her three sons. A homemaker, she loved to cook and said, “you have to become a good cook with three sons.” Edith worked for eight years at POMO’s in Centerville before they closed. She also loved going to antique shops, spending time with her grandchildren and photographing their precious moments, nurturing her flower garden, and was an avid reader. For many years, Edith was ill after being diagnosed with lupus in 1975 and with Scleroderma in 2002. Of the Baptist faith, she taught Preschool Sunday School for many years. Christmas was her favorite time of the year; she always cooked plenty of food and enjoyed making cinnamon tree ornaments.

In addition to her parents, Edith was preceded in death by five sisters; and several nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her children, Scott Sullivan of Perry, Ted (Julie) Sullivan of Byron, and Corey Sullivan of Atlanta; grandchildren, Mason Sullivan of Centerville and Amber Sullivan of Warner Robins; great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Emma Hardison; brother, Frank (Debbie) Awtrey of Fayetteville; as well as many loving nieces and nephews; special niece and caregiver, Dana (Larry) Mudd of Douglasville; best friends in the world, Audrey Bone, BJ Pope, Bonnie Fulks, and JoAnn Shaw who gave her inspiration and love; special friends, Tray Key and Nick who helped her take care of her yard along with many other helpful neighbors. She loved you all!
