On the afternoon of Saturday, December 14, 2019, Edna Wells entered into eternal rest while surrounded by her loving family members. She was 94 years old. Born in Stratford, England, Edna was the daughter of the late William and Daisy Bayley. She worked as a secretary in London where she met her late husband of 64 years, Warren. They were married on May 26, 1945, in the Church of England after he returned from war following the D-Day Invasion.
It was on August 10, 1976, that Edna officially became a United States Citizen. She and Warren lived in Jones County, Georgia, while raising their children, Geoffrey, Terry, Marilyn, and the late Mark and Michael Wells. Later they moved their family to Griffin; and in 1998, the couple moved to Warner Robins following Warren’s retirement from the Railroad.
A Godly woman, Edna was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Centerville where she was an important part of the Sutherlin Bible Study Class and the Veatch Missions Class. She enjoyed knitting in her spare time and loved to enter her creations at the fair each year where she received many ribbons. Edna also loved gardening and gave everyone flowers. Most of all, Edna was a faithful and beloved wife, mother, and grandmother who deeply loved and cared for her family. She has left a very special imprint on all of the lives that she touched.
In addition to her parents, Edna was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Warren Labon Wells; and sons, Mark Wells and Michael Wells.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her children, Geoffrey (Kathy) Wells, Griffin; Terry Wells, Warner Robins; Marilyn (Billy) Tucker, Bonaire; daughter-in-law, Gina Wells, Bonaire; seven grandchildren, Mark (Erin) Wells, Ashley Wells, Kelley Ringley, Ian (Jennifer) Tucker, Matthew (Hannah) Wells, Macie (John) Dyke, Micah (Kaitlyn) Wells; and eleven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 17, 2019, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 18, 2019, at First Baptist Church of Centerville. At 2:00 p.m. Mrs. Wells will be laid to rest next to her husband in Wells-Kelley Cemetery in Jones County.
