Edward A. Longenecker, 81, passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2006. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 9, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with interment following in Magnolia Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Mount Calvary Lutheran Church 336 Carl Vinson Parkway Warner Robins, GA 31088 or to Heart of Georgia Hospice 103 Westridge DR Warner Robins, GA 31088.
Mr. Longenecker was born on May 25, 1925 in Petersburg, PA to the late Edward A. Longenecker, Sr., and Mary Lovell Longenecker. Edward served in the U. S. Navy in WWII, 1943 – 1946 as Navy Seaman 1st Class. He was stationed at the Air Naval Training Academy in Corpus Christi, TX, Air Naval Base in San Bernardino, CA and spent nine months in Okinawa. After an honorable discharge from the Navy in 1946, Edward went to work for federal government civil service as an aircraft sheet metal mechanic at Olmsted Air Force base in Middletown, PA. In 1965, he was transferred to Robins Air Force Base and had resided in Warner Robins since. In addition to his parents, three sisters, Phyllis Meifert, Ruth Mitchell and Emma Jean Whitsel, preceded him in death.
Edward is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Jean Haag Longenecker, Warner Robins; daughters, Linda Hall and her husband Mike, Warner Robins; Kay Smith and her husband Steve, Watkinsville; Terry Karloff and her husband Howard, Denton, TX; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and his twin brother, Edwin C. Longenecker, Petersburg, PA.
