Edward O'Connor, 82, died peacefully with family and friends by his side on Sunday, May 15, 2011 after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Jersey City, New Jersey and has lived in Georgia for over fifty five years. Mr. O'Connor was a Korean War Veteran employed by F. W. Woolworth. He owned and operated Bonanza Restaurants throughout the South, and the Grand Central Station Restaurant in the Macon Mall.
He is predeceased by his loving wife of over fifty years, Grace (Phillips); and his beloved sister, Barbara Barbato of Hackensack, New Jersey. He is survived by his devoted, caring nephew, Ernest Barbato, formerly of Hackensack, New Jersey, now of Warner Robins, Georgia; Edward and Kenneth Barbato; a great nephew of Hackensack, New Jersey; dearest friends, Barbara Lones Mullis, Nell Mullis Collins, Nikki Mullis, Serenity Smallwood, Amy and daughter Danielle Cheek, Larry Smallwood, all of Byron, Georgia; Debbie Hicks and daughter Morgan O'Kelley of Athens, Georgia, Johnny and Ray Smallwood of Centerville, Georgia, and Jerry Lones of Perry, Georgia.
Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home, 417 South Houston Lake Road, Warner Robins, Georgia. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 251 South Davis Drive, Warner Robins, Georgia with interment to be announced. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church Building Fund, 250 South Davis Drive, Warner Robins, Georgia, 31088.
