Eileen Evans Mittuch, a loving wife, proud mother, and devoted nurse passed away peacefully on the morning of Monday, March 10, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on June 23, 1936, in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late William and Mildred Evans.
Eileen was a proud graduate of Eastern High School, class of 1954, and went on to earn her nursing degree from Union Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1957. After completing her education, she moved to Homestead, Florida, where she began her career and also fulfilled her dream of earning a private pilot's license.
Eileen married her husband, Eugene, moved to Warner Robins, Georgia, where she supported his career in the United States Air Force. Eileen dedicated 36 years of her life to nursing, retiring in 1993 from Houston Medical Center. Her work touched the lives of many, and she will be remembered for her compassionate care.
In addition to her parents, Eileen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Eugene Vincent Mittuch, and her son, Stephen Mittuch.
Eileen’s memory will forever be cherished by her children, Anna Lowery (Harold), Eugene W. Mittuch (Stephanie), and Patricia Compton (Jason); her eight grandchildren; her sister, Nancy; and a host of extended family and friends who will miss her deeply.
A memorial gathering will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church. A memorial service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. After the service, Eileen will be laid to rest in Andersonville National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Eileen Evans Mittuch to Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, 336 Carl Vinson Pkwy, Warner Robins, Georgia, 31088; or to the Georgia Sheriff’s Youth Home, 1000 Sheriffs Way, Madison, Georgia 30650.
