Elbert Burton Chambers, Jr., age 72, passed away at his Houston County residence on Saturday, April 9, 2022 after a brief illness.
A native of Macon, Georgia, Elbert worked as a manager at Piggly Wiggly for a number of years. An avid car guy, Elbert spent many, many hours restoring his 1977 Pontiac Trans Am and made it a passion that he shared with his sons. He took his sons and grandsons to various car shows all around the Southeast. When he wasn’t under the hood of his car, Elbert could be found spending time with his family, going to Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, or attending drag races.
In addition to his parents, Elbert Burton Chambers, Sr. and Dolly Mitchem Chambers, Elbert was preceded in death by his brother, Ronnie Chambers.
Surviving him are his wife of 53 years, Linda Gregory Chambers; sons, Clay Chambers (Katherine) and Matthew Chambers (Tess); granddaughters, Taylor Chambers and Hannah Perry; and grandsons, Kaleb Chambers, Zack Perry, and Jacob Perry; sister-in-law, Debbie Chambers; sister, Carolyn Gregory (Coy); and a host of nieces and nephews.
