Eldridge Chester, Sr., 93, entered into rest on Tuesday, July 19, 2011.
Mr. Chester was born on January 18, 1918 in Dublin, Georgia. With pride and honor, he served his country in the United States Army Air Corp and participated in World War II. He later retired from the Air National Guard as a Lieutenant Colonel. A self-employed Certified Public Accountant, he retired from Houston County Hospital as an Administrator. He was co-founder of the Mossy Creek Festival, and was a member of Central Baptist Church. His parents, Hyman A. Chester and Alberta Smith Chester, preceded him in death.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of sixty-nine years, Carolyn Chester; sons E.B. Chester, Jr. (Kay), Phoenix, Arizona, and Bill Chester (Susie), Perry; daughter, Julee Torrance (Bill), Vidalia; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 21, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 22, 2011 at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations to VistaCare Hospice, 319 Margie Drive, Warner Robins GA 31088.
