Born in Sumter, South Carolina to Mary Sinkler in 1946, Eloise Burgess was raised by her grandmother Pauline Wilson, and her father Thomas Leroy Wilson. Also known as "Ms. Elly" she went to be with the Lord on January 21, 2024. She was married to George Lawrence Burgess Sr. for 56 years - they traveled the world for over 25 years through the Air Force. She received a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from the University of North Dakota and retired from RAFB in civilian personnel to spend more time with her family and friends. Eloise loved football, tailgating, laughing, movies, walking, and traveling, but most of all, her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Eloise was preceded in death by her loving husband, George Lawrence Burgess, Sr.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her children, George Lawrence Burgess, Jr. and Paula Watkins; grandchildren, Sidney Lawrence Burgess, Alex George Burgess, Anna Sinclaire Karsti, Anthony Michael Karsti, Michael Gabriel Burgess, and Angelina Eloise Burgess; great-grandson, Keenan Alexander Burgess; and siblings, Willie Gadson, Larry Singleton, and Thomasena Galloway.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 28, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, January 29, 2024, at Fellowship Bible Baptist Church. Afterward, Eloise will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
