Emory "Bobby" Sheppard

On the evening of Saturday, December 16, 2017, Bobby Sheppard went to heaven to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was 84 years old.

Bobby was born in Washington County, Georgia on January 14, 1933, the son of the late Emory Bowers and Ethel Harrell Sheppard. He graduated from Sandersville High School where he excelled at baseball and basketball. Bobby then joined the United States Army and served during the Korean War where he received the National Defense Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Subsequent to his military service, he worked in Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base as an item manager for 34 years before retiring in 1985.

Not content to sit around after retirement, Bobby enjoyed woodworking, fishing and gardening. In 1965, he became a member of Green Acres Baptist Church where he served in the bus ministry and was a member of the Men’s Sunday School Class. Bobby's strong love for his grandchildren, family, friends, and the Lord will be forever remembered in the hearts of all who knew him.

His memory will always be treasured by his loving wife of 54 years, Melba Cross Sheppard of Warner Robins; sons, Marty Wayne Sheppard (Sherry) of Warner Robins and Michael Emory Sheppard (Stephanie) of Byron; grandchildren, Mattie, Katherine, Mary Michael, Hannah, and Haley; and siblings, Ronnie and Larry Sheppard, both of Gray.

Visitation will be Tuesday, December 19, 2017, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will immediately follow in the chapel of McCullough at 3:00 p.m. with Dr. Johnny Ellison officiating. Following the service, Bobby will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.

The family will accept flowers or donations may be given in memory of Emory “Bobby” Sheppard to the Green Acres Baptist Church Building Fund, 901 Elberta Rd., Warner Robins, GA 31093 or to your favorite charity.
