Erma Spires, 87, died at Serenity Gate in Perry. She was born in Telfair County but had been a resident of Warner Robins for sixty years.
Services will be held at Second Baptist Church on Friday, January 20 at 11:00 a.m. She had been a member at Second Baptist Church for almost sixty years. Her grandson, Rev. Jay Lauritsen and Rev. Mike Slade will officiate. Burial will follow in Magnolia Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home.
Mrs. Spires was a homemaker and a devoted wife to her husband, Grover C. Spires, who preceded her in death. Her parents, Will and Dollie Whitehead, three brothers and seven sisters also preceded her in death.
She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother to her daughter, Laverne Lauritsen (Pete) of Warner Robins; grandsons, Doug Lauritsen (Maureen) of Conyers; Jay Lauritsen (Sandra) and Keith Lauritsen (Amy), all of Warner Robins; great grandchildren; Jan, Erik and Jasen of Conyers and Jessica, Joshua Andrew, Molly, Matthew and Mark of Warner Robins. She is also survived by a sister, Irene Stanley of Jacksonville, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, request donations be made to Serenity Gate, operated by Hospice of Houston County, Perry Hospital, 1120 Morningside Drive, Perry, Georgia 31069 or Second Baptist Church building fund, 2504 Moody Road, Warner Robins, Georgia 31088.
