Ernestine Parrish, 89, passed away at a local nursing home on Friday, December 4, 2009, from complications due to Alzheimer's.
Mrs. Parrish was born on November 26, 1920, in Oak Grove, Kentucky. Her church home was First Baptist Church of Centerville. A retired payroll clerk from Robins Air Force Base, she was a member of the Moose Lodge and the Moose Lodge Motor Boat Club. She was preceded by her husband, Elbert Z. Parrish, who died of Alzheimer's in 2005, and by her daughter, Sandra Joyce Parrish Hall, who died in 2006, due to early onset of Alzheimer's. Her parents, Thaddeus Carr Giles and Lela Tucker Giles, brothers, Stanley, Doug, and Billy Joe Giles, also predeceased her.
Visitation will be Sunday, December 6, 2009, from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 7, 2009, in Magnolia Park Cemetery, the reverend Andy Cook officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, attention Sandy's Angels, 277 Martin Luther King Boulevard, Macon GA 31201.
She will live in the hearts of her son, Gary E. Parrish, Warner Robins; grandsons, Tim Hall (Michelle), Brunswick, Brian Hall, Warner Robins, and Jeff Parrish (Bonnie), Warner Robins; granddaughter, Kimberly Jackson (Kenneth), Warner Robins; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Katherine Knight, Hermitage, Tennessee; a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and son-in-law, James (Jim) L. Hall, Warner Robins.
