Etheel Manning Stokes, 81, entered into rest on Thursday, June 7, 2012.
Mrs. Stokes was born on November 13, 1930 in Uvalda, Georgia. Etheel was a long-time member of Hayneville Assembly of God. She was the true epitome of a loving, faithful woman, Christian wife, Momma, Granny, sister, and friend. There was magic in her loving touch and sunshine in her smile. Her abundant laughter was always a source of joy to her family and many friends. She was a faithful servant of the Lord, gracious and kind; a legacy her family is proud to carry on. Her beloved husband of nearly sixty two years, Jordan Nathaniel "J.N." Stokes, and her parents, Herschel and Nancy Spivey Manning, preceded her in death.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her daughter, Nancy Stokes Fisher (Daveyjohn); sons, Larry Stokes (Margaret), Tarrell Stokes (Becky), Freddy Stokes (Carolyn), and Tommy Stokes (Lori); sister, Betty Freeman; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Saturday evening, June 9, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 10, 2012 at Southside Baptist Church with Reverends Jerry Walls and Marcus Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Magnolia Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations to Hayneville Assembly of God Building Fund, P.O. Box 67, Clinchfield, Georgia 31013.
