On Tuesday, December 27, 2022, loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, Eugene Talmadge Manning, passed into the hands of the Lord. He was born on June 10, 1933 in Bleckley County, GA and was raised on a farm with his late parents, Elliot Julian and Mabel Green Manning, and four brothers and three sisters who preceded him in death.
Being raised on a farm taught Eugene the value of hard work at a young age. As a young man, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served in the Korean War and went on to have a successful career in Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base before retiring. Eugene was not suited to just sit around in his retirement, so he gladly began working for Pop Tops Shop replacing vinyl roofs on cars and then for Sign Ventures as a sign technician. He also loved fishing, hunting and cheering on the Atlanta Braves in his spare time. Additionally, Eugene was a huge supporter of local high school sporting events, especially of Northside High School, where he was a much-loved member of the Booster Club. When he wasn’t at work or participating in one of his favorite pastimes, Eugene enjoyed attending Daystar Church of God in Macon and spending time at home with his family. His kind, gentle soul, and big heart, left his presence to be admired by family and friends alike.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife, Helen Rowell Manning and children, Deneise Ricketson (Dave), Tony Dykes (Cheryl) and Dennis Dykes, all of Warner Robins; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, December 31, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home, with Pastor Robby Shepherd officiating. He will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery following the service.
