On Sunday, January 17, 2021, Evelyn “Marie” Gawlick joined her late husband, CMSgt. Donald R. Gawlick, USAF (Ret.) in Heaven. She was 85 years old at the time of her passing.
Born on February 24, 1935, in Rossville, Georgia, Marie was the daughter of the late Joseph Ernest and Bertie King Waters. She proudly served her country in the United States Air Force as an Airman 2nd Class before becoming a devoted wife and a mother to five wonderful children. She enjoyed supporting her husband’s military career and traveling all over the world with her family. Marie also loved supporting her children in all of their activities to include being a leader in Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, and cheering her children on as they played sports, dance and music. Marie will be remembered by all for her unconditional love and devotion to her family.
In addition to her husband and parents, Marie was preceded in death by her son, Joey Gawlick; sister, Barbara Campbell; and brothers, Charles, Jimmy, and Lamar Waters.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her children, David Gawlick, Sr. (Julie) of Warner Robins; Susan Marie Rylee of Warner Robins; Donna Leah Hodgson of New Braunfels, Texas; and Lisa Anne Gawlick (Brien Woods) of Hadley, Massachusetts; and grandchildren, Melissa, David Jr., Delilah, Michael, Robbie, Shawn, Vanessa, Jessica, Sean, Andrew, Conor, Melody, and Haley; 17 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 25, 2021, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Afterward Marie will be laid to rest next to her husband at Magnolia Park Cemetery.
