Faye Mullis Cooper

January 6, 1940 — November 1, 2022

Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Faye Mullis Cooper, passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at the age of 82. She dearly loved her family and was surrounded with their love as she crossed in the love of those who had gone before.

Born in Wilkinson County, GA on January 6, 1940, Faye was the daughter of the late Marvin and Anna Aycock Mullis. She grew up in Macon and was a graduate of Miller High School where she enjoyed playing soccer, volleyball and softball. Faye went on to earn a degree from Crandall Business College and began a career in Civil Service as a data analyst at Robins Air Force Base. She loved being a working woman, but as soon as her children were born, she dropped everything to be a stay-at-home mom. As the kids got older, Faye was eager to go back to work and took a job at Houston Lanes Bowling Alley; she fell in love with bowling as a result! She went back to work in Civil Service after some time and eventually retired as a supply clerk.

Faye was not only a devoted mother and hard worker, but she always tried to find ways to be of service to others as she volunteered in the community and church. She was a former member of Centerville United Methodist Church where she was very active on several different committees, and in 1991, she became a member of Byron United Methodist Church where she was greatly involved, as well. In Faye’s retirement, she helped with the Pink Ladies Auxiliary at Houston Medical Center for 10 years. Additionally, she enjoyed volunteering with disabled children’s sports, mainly bowling and softball. When Faye wasn’t out and about in the community, you could find her shopping online, traveling and dining out. If you knew Faye, you knew that she was the absolute sweetest friend one could have. The countless cards with kind words, her friendly smile and caring disposition will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Franklin D. Cooper, Sr.; her sister, Patricia Brock; her brother, Thomas Branch; and her daughter-in-law, Cindy Cooper.

She is survived by her loving children, Frank D. Cooper, Jr. of Stone Mountain, Vickie Stinson of Kathleen and Malia Veator (Tommy) of Perry; grandchildren, Sonya Stinsolotti (Michael), Lawrence Stinson, Jr. and Trevor Veator; siblings, Edward Mullis, Weecie Hadden (Arthur), Yvonne Burleson and Marvel Barron; sister-in-law, Kathy Branch; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday, November 4, 2022, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m., in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Following the service, Faye will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery next to Mr. Cooper.
