Floyd Griggs

Floyd Griggs was joyfully reunited with his beloved wife of 67 years, Joyce Eileen Griggs in Heaven on the morning of Saturday, March 16, 2024. He was 91 years old.

Born on July 23, 1932, in Phenix City, Alabama, Floyd was the son of the late Bernard and Evangeline Cox Griggs. He proudly served in the United States Air Force before dedicating many years as a communications specialist at Robins Air Force Base, where he eventually retired.

Floyd had a passion for life's simple pleasures, including woodworking, beach outings, and cheering on his favorite teams, the Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves. He also took delight in playing the guitar and listening to bluegrass music.

Above all, Floyd was of the Christian faith and his greatest love was for his family. He cherished his role as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and his love extended to his canine companions, whom he held dear to his heart.

In addition to his wife and parents, Floyd was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Tom Shell, and siblings, Howard Griggs, Peggy Gilbert, Jean Johnston, Howard Griggs, Jr.

His memory will forever be cherished by his children, Sherrie Shell, Kelly J. Evans (Kelly A.), and Tim Griggs; grandchildren, Stefanie Rushing (Matt), Heather Ray (Zack), Ashley Ake, Andrew Evans (Mandy), Melissa Griggs; great-grandchildren, Jayden Ake, Holden Rushing, and Angel Sweeney; and siblings, Joyce Greer, Paula Edwards, Ray Griggs, and Evangeline Thornton, all of Phenix City, Alabama.

At the family’s request, all services held will be private. Floyd Griggs will be laid to rest privately in the Parkway Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Floyd Griggs to The Well at Centerville, 600 N. Houston Lake Blvd., Centerville, Georgia 31028.
