On the morning of Saturday, February 17, 2018, Frances L. Hildebrand passed away at home in her sleep after a brief illness. She was 103 years old.
Frances was born in Ambridge, Pennsylvania on September 29, 1914 to the late Stanley and Apolonia Walter Stanczkiewicz. She grew up in Liverpool, New York on a farm outside of Syracuse, New York and studied fashion design. Frances moved to Hollywood, Florida to pursue a fashion career and met her late husband, John Hildebrand after World War II. In 1947, they relocated to Warner Robins and she became a much-loved teacher at Sacred Heart Catholic School.
In her mid to late 90’s, she took up oil painting under the direction of Butler Brown and even took up studying computers. One of Frances’ greatest gifts was showing others how to age gracefully with a positive attitude.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her loving children, Joanne Powell (Gary) of Salt Lake, Utah, Mark William Hildebrand (Teresa) of Atlanta, and John Joseph Hildebrand II (Mary) of Bonaire; grandchildren, Hanna Harris (Logan), John Joseph Hildebrand III (Margaret), Elizabeth Duncan (Damon), and Adam Brock (Jamie); great-grandchildren, Connor, Eli, John, Joseph, Savannah, Marilyn, and Vivien; and former daughter-in-law, Tina Hildebrand.
Visitation will be Tuesday, February 20, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at The Farmhouse at McCullough. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Following the service, Frances will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
