Frances M. Hollis, 91, entered into rest on Wednesday, March 7, 2012.
Frances was born on February 18, 1921 in Emmetsburg, Iowa. She was a 1939 graduate of Silver Lake High School in Iowa where she was valedictorian and earned a college scholarship playing basketball. A resident of Warner Robins since 1957, she was a devout member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She served as past President of the Legion of Mary and of the Golden Hearts Club. Frances was also an avid bowler and bridge player. Her husband of thirty-five years, Thomas Gibson Hollis, Jr.; son, Lawrence Harry Hollis; granddaughters, Holly Christine Ray and Kathryn Ray Roderigues; and parents, Harry Eugene Nitchals and Catherine Myers Nitchals, preceded her in death.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her loving children, Cheryl Hollis Cecil (William H.), Gray, Thomas Gibson Hollis, III (Connie), Mansfield, Juanita Hollis Smith (Ted), Warner Robins, and Deborah Hollis Ray, Warner Robins; grandchildren, Lance Scott Hollis, Stephanie Smith Piepho, Catherine Toomey Dotson, Hillary Smith Mathews, Cynthia Cecil Mercer, Christy Cecil Forehand, and Analeigh Frances Smith; eleven great-grandchildren; sisters, Marjorie Fleer, Lawrence, Kansas and Peggy Nitchals, Leavenworth, Kansas; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Rosary will be held Sunday, March 11, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. with visitation from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 12, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with a committal service following at 2:00 p.m. in Andersonville National Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Lance Hollis, Charles Mathews, Hank Forehand, Scott Piepho, Kevin Dotson, and William Mercer.
