Francis J. (Frank) Sasso, 68, entered into rest on, Friday April 20, 2012.
Mr. Sasso was born on September 22, 1943 in Madison, Wisconsin. He was retired from Robins Air Force Base in the Electronic Warfare Division as an Engineer. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church for thirty-eight years where he was involved with many organizations. Mr. Sasso was a member of the Good Shepherd Cleaning Crew, the Kairos Prison Ministry, Engaged Encounter, Parish Retreat weekend, and Cursillo. Frank also served at Sacred Heart in other ways. He operated the sound equipment, and served as a Eucharistic minister. Mr.Sasso received the Gartland Award from the Diocese of Savannah for volunteering in his church community.
Frank was active outside of church as well. He was a member of the Dixie Old Crows and received the Frontier Award from this group. He was very active with the Warner Robins Recreation Department coaching football, t-ball and softball. Everyone knew him as "Coach Sasso". Frank was the PTO President for Shirley Hills Elementary School and worked many hours with the Boy Scouts. Mr. Sasso filled the role as Drosselmeyer for Nutcracker of Middle Georgia. In his free time, Frank was an avid runner, frequent concert goer, transporter of canine rescues and enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. Mr. Sasso was a very loving and giving man who loved God and Life. His parents, Salvator and Clara Sasso, preceded him in death.
His memory will forever be treasured by his wife of twenty-eight years Peggy B. Sasso, Warner Robins; children Nicholas Sasso (Kimberli), Franklin, Georgia, Connie Hutchinson, Warner Robins, Jeff Sasso (Donna), Willowick, Ohio, Mindy Stahl Kodya (Kevin), Warner Robins, Brandi Stahl Daniels (Casey), Warner Robins; grandchildren Christopher Lowe, T.J. Torres, Ricky Oakes, Brandi Wood, Christopher Wood, Dallin Sparks, Alexander Kodya, Reese Daniels, Madelyn Kodya, Brandt Daniels, Chase Daniels; great grandchild Jesse Lowe; brothers Fred Sasso (Patti Hankins), Steve Sasso (Sherie); sisters Sue Berkan (Ted), Marge Ramer (Rick) all of Madison, Wisconsin; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his four loyal canine companions.
A Rosary Service will be held Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at 6:00 pm. with visitation following until 8:00 pm at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with entombment following in Magnolia Park Mausoleum. Monsignor Fred Nijem, Father Bob Cushing, Father Pablo Migone, Reverend Bruce Brookshire, and Deacon Jim Hunt will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Sacred Heart Christian Service Center or Sacred Heart Building Fund 300 S. Davis Drive Warner Robins, GA 31099.
