Gail Aletha Funke peacefully passed away with her husband by her side on Friday, January 24, 2020, at the Hazel Colson Hospice House in Perry. She was 68 years old. Born in Niceville, Florida, Gail was the daughter of the late Donald Roberson, Sr. and Helen Roberson. A woman of devout faith, Gail was a devoted member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Kathleen. She loved the outdoors, especially gardening, watching and feeding birds, and going on walks in the woods with her dogs. She also enjoyed playing the piano. It was the simple pleasures in life that Gail enjoyed the most. She will be remembered for her kind heart, her willingness to help others, and for the way she always took care of her family.
In addition to her parents, Gail was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Roberson, Jr.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her husband of 33 years, Mark Alan Funke; children, Torri Poli, Thomas Volcko. Jr. (Jennifer), Benjamin Volcko (Sarah Anne), Jacob Funke; grandchildren, Evan Poli, Brenden Volcko, Zoe Volcko, Timothy Volcko, and Corbin Volcko; and brother, Pat Roberson.
A memorial gathering will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 28, 2020, at McCullough Funeral Home. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 29, 2020, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Afterward, Mrs. Funke will be laid to rest at 11:00a.m., Georgia Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 2617 Vinson Highway, Milledgeville, Georgia 31061.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Gail A. Funke to Hazel Colson Hospice House, 1120 Morningside Drive, Perry, Georgia 31069.
