Gary Thomas Strickhouser, 86, went to be with Jesus on Friday, May 19, 2023.
Gary was born on July 18, 1936, in Burbank, California, and grew up in Southern California. He graduated from Glendale Union High School and from there, worked in concrete for a short time. He became proficient in upholstery while working on convertible cars. He then opened his own upholstery and furniture shop in Montrose, California called Gary Strickhouser Interiors, which was open from 1962-1985. He then began selling real estate in La Crescenta, California and then in Santa Maria, California. He met his wife, Carol, in the early 50s on a double date while still in La Crescenta. Three days after her 18th birthday, they were married and had a wonderful marriage of 49 years and 10 months. In 2017, Gary relocated to Warner Robins, Georgia to be with family. He loved being a member of Central Baptist Church in the For His Glory Sunday School class. In his free time, Gary loved traveling with his fifth wheel trailer, woodcarving, writing poetry, painting, gardening, country music, The Grand Ole Opry, cars and souping up hot rods while in high school. Later in life, he had the opportunity to own and drive a ’64 Thunderbird. He was a sweet man and will be missed by many.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, John Burton Strickhouser and Lolus Ann Najarian, along with his wife, Carol Strickhouser, brother, William Strickhouser, granddaughter, Jenny Jacobs, and son-in-law, Jorge Jacobs.
