George D. Vernon, 52, entered into rest on Monday, June 4, 2012.
George was born on November 13, 1959 in Greensboro, North Carolina. A proud veteran of the United States Army, he was most recently an HVAC Technician for Keadle Heating and Air. George was a member of Shirley Hills Baptist Church, and was known as a very generous person, always giving money to the needy. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, but the most important things in his life were his grandson, Stryder Shelton, and his beloved dogs, BoBo and Ralph. His parents, Dewey R. Vernon and Elizabeth Paschal Vernon, preceded him in death.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of eight years, Karen Vernon, Warner Robins; daughter, Jadie Shelton (Chad); grandson, Stryder Shelton; and siblings, Lonnie Vernon, Wanda Lawson (Gary), and Johnny Vernon (Margie).
Visitation will be Thursday, June 7, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A memorial service will immediately follow at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial donations be given to Celebrate Recovery – Southside Baptist Church, 1040 S. Houston Lake Rd, Warner Robins, GA 31088 or to Perry Lighthouse Ministries, 1122 Gaines Dr, Perry, GA 31069.
