George Lloyd Grace, 43, died Sunday, October 27, 2002 at his residence. Services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, October 29 at Christ United Methodist Church with interment following in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The Reverends Tommy Martin and Eugene Barlow will officiate. Visitation will be Monday from 7:00 until 9:00 pm at McCullough Funeral Home.
A native of Macon, Mr. Grace graduated from Stratford Academy and the University of Georgia where he was a member of the Redcoat Marching Band. He was employed as an Industrial Engineering Technician at Robins Air Force Base.
He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Warner Robins where he was Director of Performing Arts Ministry for the past two years. Prior to that, he served as Director of Music at First United Methodist Church in Centerville for 19 years.
He was also the Tuba player for the Macon Symphony Orchestra and was the stage manager. He was also a member of the Georgian Renaissance Singers.
Mr. Grace was a former member and Assistant Director of the Barbershop Quartet singers (SPEBSQSA) in Macon and was a former member and secretary of the Exchange Club of Bibb County.
He is survived by his wife, Gwendolyn Abernathy Grace; his son, Wesley Alexander Grace; his parents, Leonard and Ann Grace; and his parents-in-law, George and Mary Carolyn Abernathy of Macon.
Memorials may be made to the Christ United Methodist Church in Warner Robins, First United Methodist Church (Building Fund) in Centerville, the Macon Symphony Orchestra, or Hospice of Houston County.
