George Lester, 80, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, December 12, 2017.
George was born on October 19, 1937 in Atlanta, Georgia and was of the Baptist faith. A lifelong resident of Warner Robins, he was a 1957 graduate of Warner Robins High School and proudly served his country in the Georgia Air National Guard in the Communications Maintenance Squadron. George also served his community as a police officer and firefighter before relocating to Nashville, Tennessee to pursue his lifetime passion of making music. He was a retail store manager for Heilig-Meyers Furniture while in Nashville all while publishing over 20 songs and producing two records, one of which is under his stage name “Bobby Lee.” Two of his most famous songs are called “Run Fool Run” and “Cold Dark Night.”
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving son, Eric Lester (Michele) of Bonaire; and grandson, Evan Lester.
Visitation will be Friday, December 15, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2017 in Magnolia Park Cemetery where he will be laid to rest.
The family will accept flowers or donations may be given in memory of George Lester to Church Home Rehab and Healthcare, 2470 US Hwy 41 N, Fort Valley, GA 31030.
