Georgia Mae Lewis

Georgia Lewis, 74, passed away on Monday, February 26, 2007.

Mrs. Lewis was born on May 1, 1932 in Montezuma, Georgia, the third of eleven children. Georgia was a 1950 graduate of Fort Valley High School. A member of Shirley Hills Baptist Church and the Joy Sunday School Class, she volunteered her services for years helping with the Wednesday night suppers and wherever she was needed. Mrs. Lewis retired from civil service after 34 ½ years of employment as a comptroller. Her strong desire and dedication to help and serve mankind led her to an additional fourteen years with Act Media as well as devoting numerous hours visiting the elderly at Elberta Nursing Home. She was a fabulous mother and homemaker. She was predeceased by her husband of twenty years, Clinton A. Lewis, Sr., her parents, Hoke and Sally Watson Jackson, four brothers and one sister.

Survivors include her daughter, Sheryl Lewis Middlebrooks (Ronnie), Albany; sons, Clinton A. Lewis, Jr. (Lynn), Robert Hoke (Cindy), John William (Sherri), all of Warner Robins; sister, Dolly Jo Barrow, Reynolds; Sarah Purvis, Macon; Jane Gordon, Bonaire; Patricia Monroe, Alabama; Harriett Athon, Cordele; grandchildren, Jeems Hayes, Clint Lewis III, Stephanie Griffin, Lori Thompson, Jake Lewis, Staci Lewis, Jeremiah Winans,
Alicia Jackson, and great grandchildren, Chandler, Alex, Blake, Madelyn and Evan.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 1, in Shirley Hills Baptist Church with interment following in Oaklawn Cemetery, Fort Valley. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Shirley Hills Baptist Church 615 Corder Road Warner Robins, GA 31088.
