Gerald "Tootie" Chaney, 63, entered into rest on January 6, 2010.
Mr. Chaney was born on July 31, 1946 in Douglas, Georgia. With pride and honor, he served his country in the United States Marines from 1966 to 1969, participating in the Vietnam Conflict. He was a member of the Marine Corps League Detachment 970, and he stayed in touch with all his Vietnam buddies around the U.S.A. A self-employed builder, he later worked at Robins Air Force Base for ten years as a Sheet Metal Mechanic before retirement. First Freewill Baptist Church in Warner Robins was his church home. His favorite hobby was to fish. His parents, L.D. Chaney and Annie Bell Hutchinson Chaney; brothers, George, Lige and Jearell Chaney; preceded him in death.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of twenty-six years, Dorothy L. Fessler Chaney; children, Bobby (Lori) Chaney, Perry, Lisa (John) Willis, Warner Robins, Dee Chaney and fiancé, Dwayne Taylor, Perry, Howard Fountain, Byron, and Michele (Eric) Lester, Bonaire; grandchildren, Ryan and Cassy Chaney, Joshua, Crissy and Kalob Willis, Thomas Taylor, Taylor Fountain and Evan Lester; sister, Ruth Chaney Moss, Perry; aunt, Bertha Montgomery, Perry; sisters-in-law, Eloise, Arnece and Helen Chaney; three nieces; eight nephews; numerous cousins, friends; and his special fishing buddies, Wayne Williams and David "Duke" Durham.
Visitation will be Saturday, January 9, 2010, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 10, 2010, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home, Reverend Jimmy Rozier and Benny Lafferty officiating. Entombment will follow at 4:00 p.m. in Magnolia Park Mausoleum with full Military Honors.
