Warner Robins – Gertrude A. Lacour, 87, passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2005 at her residence. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 16, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with interment following in Magnolia Park Cemetery. A Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. with visitation following until 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15 at McCullough Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to Sacred Heart Catholic School, 250 S. Davis Drive, Warner Robins, Georgia 31088.
Born on October 23, 1917, Miss Lacour attended Marksville High School and St. Vincent’s Academy in Shreveport, Louisiana. She received a degree in Elementary Education and taught for several years at schools in Avoyelles Parish. She worked in Civil Service for the United States Air Force and was employed at Air Force installations in Louisiana, Arizona, the Philippines, Japan and Georgia, where she retired from Robins Air Force Base. A resident of Warner Robins for the past 43 years, Miss Lacour worked as a volunteer for the American Cancer Society and the Bargain Box.
“Miss Trudy,” the name she was known by at Sacred Heart Catholic School, had been a full-time volunteer there since 1985. She worked in the school library, and most recently in the administrative offices.
Miss Lacour was preceded in death by her parents, Jules J., Sr. and Louise Lacour; brother, Richard Dean Lacour; and sister, Rachel B. Barnes.
Survivors include, two brothers, James R. Lacour (Betty Ann), Bunkie, Louisiana; and Jules J. Lacour, Jr. (Catherine), Alexandria, Louisiana; two close and special friends, Peggy and Dennis Malto, Warner Robins, and their families. Pallbearers will be, Matt Malto, Jonathan Malto, Thomas, Bell, Alan Street, Paul Villarreal, and Richard Malto.
