Gladys Womack, 82, passed away peacefully after an extended illness on February 1, 2023.
Gladys was born February 10, 1940 in Jamestown, Tennessee where she was raised on a farm along with nine siblings. She and her husband, Hugh, were married for over 58 years and had two children, Cheryl and Ricky. Gladys was a stay at home mom who provided their kids with stability and loving care while Hugh worked long hours serving in the Air Force. In her later years, she found great fulfillment in being a grandmother figure to Luke and Gabe Davenport, both of whom she loved deeply. She assumed an active role in their childhood upbringing and supported them by attending their church and school functions.
Gladys also devoted a lot of time volunteering with hospice and at Trinity United Methodist Church. She began by assisting in the food pantry and the welcoming committee. Later, she took over the shut-in Communion ministry and the program that provides meals for families attending funeral services. Additionally, she spent endless hours in the Trinity Prayer Garden using her green thumb to beautify the garden.
Gladys is survived by her husband, Hugh, and daughter, Cheryl, both of Warner Robins; and her siblings, Georgia Bowling of Adrian, MI and Paris Monday of Cookeville, TN.
During the last six months of her illness, Gladys received exemplary care from the nurses and staff at the Heart of Georgia Hospice. In addition, she was blessed with assistance by three devoted caregivers who helped keep her as comfortable as possible.
The family will receive visitors for a memorial gathering on Monday, February 6, 2023, from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church. A memorial service celebrating her life will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church in Warner Robins, GA.
