Glenda Hetes, 84, joined her beloved husband, Gerard A. Hetes in heaven on the evening of Wednesday, July 12, 2017.
Glenda was born to the late George and Mary McMullen Sultzaberger on November 1, 1932 in Enola, Pennsylvania. Shortly after graduating high school, the true love of her life, Gerard Anthony Hetes, took her across the state line into Maryland and made her is wife. From then on, she dedicated herself to rearing their children, making their home, and faithfully serving him for 62 years.
The Hetes family moved to Warner Robins for Mr. Hetes' career in civil service at Robins Air Force Base. She was a devout member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she enjoyed volunteering at Sacred Heart School for many years and playing the organ. Mrs. Hetes was also an avid sports fan who enjoyed being a member of a bowling league and watching professional wrestling, baseball, and football, particularly the Pittsburgh Steelers. Glenda was a huge Northside High School Football fan, as well, and went to every single one of their home games for 25 years straight. She even attended most away games and would listen to them on the radio if there was a time she couldn't make one.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her loving children, Steve Hetes (Carol) of Warner Robins, Stacy Jones (Robert) of Forest Junction, Wisconsin, Sharon McIntyre (John) of Warner Robins, and Stan Hetes (Krissy) of Woodstock, Georgia; grandchildren, Troy Hetes (Holly), Keith Hetes (Chrissie), Jason Jones, Jennifer Nugent (Chris), Sarah Porcello (Leo), Devon Brock (Jeremy), Erin Pender (Doug), and Galen Hetes; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and sisters, Edna Comp of Carlisle, Pennsylvania and Maxine Kennes of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 18th from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 19th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Monsignor Fred Nijem and Deacon Jim Hunt officiating. Following the service, Glenda will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Mausoleum.
