Gracie Vonteller Carter Wright

November 28, 1944 — February 17, 2022

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, Gracie Vonteller Wright, on Thursday, February 17, 2022. She was born the baby of 13 children, to the late, John C. and Frances Scott Carter, in Chester, SC on November 28, 1944. She was of the Baptist faith.

From the time Gracie was young, she had an eye for art and was blessed to work for various art galleries in her 77 years. She was an accomplished framer of art, but was more importantly a devoted military wife and mother. Her husband, Ronald, proudly served in both the United States Army and United States Air Force, which allowed their family the opportunity to travel with her siblings and family. Gracie was also an amazing cook.

Gracie will be survived by her loving children, Chuck A. Wright (Sarah) of Warner Robins, Sherri L. Simoneau (Wilton) of Kathleen, and Kenneth N. Wright (Kristin) and Adam J. Wright, both of Warner Robins; grandchildren, Dustin Wright (Vicky), Jeremy Wright (Christa), Jonathan Wright, Kaytlyn Wright, Sydnee Wright, Shaelyn Simoneau, Payton Horton (Josh), Alexis Myrick (Aaron), Harley Myrick (Cole), Preston Vaughn, Austin Vaughn, Bryce Vaughn and Benjamin P. Pervis; great-grandchildren, Blakey, Brylea and Zander Wright, Oliver Lavender, Iyla Tucker and Bodhi Cox; and sister, Lucille Andress of Troy, AL.

Gracie will be laid to rest with a graveside funeral service on Monday, February 21, 2022, at 3:00 p.m., in Magnolia Park Cemetery, with Bill Magallano officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Gracie to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.

For friends unable to attend at this time, the service will be streamed live via the McCullough Funeral Home Facebook page at www.facebook.com/mcculloughfuneralhome/live/.
