Grover Cleveland "G.C." Dunn, Jr., 93, was called home Thursday, April 21, 2011.
"G.C." was born on December 17, 1917 in Dublin. A proud veteran of World War II, he saw heavy combat in the European Theater as a tank commander in the United States Army Third Division. After his military career, he worked at Robins Air Force Base in civil service as an Aircraft Electrician before retiring. Originally a member of Second Baptist Church, Warner Robins, he later became a member and Deacon at Garrison Baptist Church, Warner Robins, and most currently was a member and Deacon at Byron Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie L. Whittaker Dunn; parents, Grover Cleveland Dunn, Sr. and Pansy Crafton Dunn; son, Vernon C. Dunn; and siblings, Malcolm Dunn, Basil Dunn, Rewis Dunn, Agnes Page, Stafford Dunn and Fred Dunn.
His memory will forever be treasured by his daughters, Linda D. McIntyre, Savannah , and Dianne Dunn Taylor (Gustav A.), Poquoson, Virginia; son-in-law, Hubert "Buck" E. Earnest; grandchildren, R. Scott Taylor, Timothy L. Taylor and Melissa L. Miller; great-grandchildren, Jeffrey L. Taylor, Timothy Kieth Taylor, Ashlyn E. Taylor and Dylan C. Miller; and siblings, Blanche D. Wagoner, Dublin, Vivian Dunn, Dublin, and Felton Dunn, Dallas, Texas.
Visitation will be Monday, April 25, 2011 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service held at 2:00 p.m. in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be given to the Disabled Veterans of America, 4462 Houston Avenue, Macon GA 31206.
