Gwendolyn “Gwen” Morris, 81, passed away at Houston Medical Center on Monday, March 15, 2021.
Gwen was born on December 21, 1939, in Fort Gaines, Georgia, to the late Robert C. and Naomi Adams Martin. After graduating high school, she married Richard Morris in Albany, Georgia. They moved to Warner Robins where Gwen raised her two children while Richard was sent to Vietnam and Turkey. They were then stationed in Hawaii for four years, where Gwen worked at Pearl Harbor. Once the family returned to Georgia, she retired as a Claims Representative at the Social Security Administration office. After retirement, along with her husband, Gwen owned and operated the Treasured Corners Antique Shop and Morris Estate Liquidations, LLC. in Warner Robins. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and Phi Beta Kappa in both Warner Robins and Hawaii. She enjoyed painting and was of the Methodist faith. All will forever cherish her memory.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Richard Morris of Warner Robins; children, Patricia Morris of Warner Robins and Susan Mangan (Matt) of Rockville, Maryland; six grandchildren, Ailene, Mackenzie, Delaney, Devlin, Dylan, and Erica; one great-grandchild, Beckett Parrish; and sister, Linda Luper of Warner Robins.
At the family’s request, all services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Gwendolyn “Gwen” Morris to the Methodist Home for Children and Youth, 304 Pierce Ave., Macon, Georgia 31204.
