Gwendolyn Marie Wood Lovett, 82, entered into rest on Wednesday, May 18, 2011.
Mrs. Lovett was born on February 6, 1929 in Banks County, Georgia. She received her Registered Nursing degree at Crawford W. Long Hospital in Atlanta. A resident of Byron since 1981, Gwendolyn was a member of Byron Baptist Church where she was a member of both the Murdock and the Gleaners Sunday School Classes. She was a Sunday School Teacher to toddlers, served on the bereavement committee, and wherever else her help was needed. Her son, Jehu Nathaniel Lovett, Jr.; parents, Henry and Ethel J. Wood; five siblings; and three great grandchildren preceded her in death.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her loving husband of sixty years, Jehu Nathaniel Lovett, Sr., Byron, Georgia; children, Terry (Jackie) Lovett, Lexington, South Carolina, Gary (Ginger) Lovett, Manor, Georgia, Ronny Lovett, Lake Charles, Louisiana, and Sandee (Brian) Brookins, Donalsonville, Georgia; siblings, Jeanette Simmons, Dorothy Tatum, Virginia Martin, Polly Ann Hooks, and Jack Wood; twelve grandchildren; and twenty one great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 19, 2011 from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 20, 2011 at Byron Baptist Church with Pastor Jesse Fortson officiating. Interment will follow in Parkway Memorial Gardens.
