Harold E. Long, 88, entered into rest on Sunday, January 29, 2012.
Harold was born on June 28, 1923 in Lindale, Georgia. A proud veteran of the United States 3rd Army, he served our country during World War II under the leadership of Gen. George Patton. Harold later retired from Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base as well as from Northrop Grumman. He was also the previous owner of Long's T.V. Service. Harold was of the Mormon faith and was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served many responsibilities and positions at the church. Some of the positions were Sunday School President, Stake Sunday School President, High Councilman, and Atlanta Temple Ordinance Worker. He was also a High Priest. His daughter, Jeanie L. Davis; and parents, George W. Long and Sara Whiteside Long, preceded him in death.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of seventeen years, Nila Olivee Long, Warner Robins; children, Mary Jo Kitchens (Ronnie), Harold E. "Sonny" Long, Jr., and George S. Long (Louise); seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and Stephen Ward (Angela).
Visitation will be Wednesday, February 1, 2012 from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with interment following in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
