Lee Premo, Jr., 72, passed away on Sunday, October 7, 2018 in Greenville, South Carolina.
Lee was born in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia on April 20, 1946 to the late Col. Harold L. Premo, USAF Ret. and Clare Lawler Premo. A proud Veteran of the United States Army, Lee retired with 28 years at Sherwin-Williams as an award winning store manager in Athens, GA. Lee was an avid outdoorsman excelling in marksmanship with other hobbies including gun collecting, hunting, fishing, building and flying model RC airplanes, antique Victrola and radio restoration, and team bowling. Continuing with the Premo tradition of father teaching son how to repair classic automobiles, he also helped his son, Jason, at age 15, to fully restore a 1971 British MG Midget – a “frame off” project that started with the car towed from a junkyard. Jason and Lee brought the car back to mint condition, including what Lee called ‘questionably legal’ performance upgrades.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Ann M. Premo.
Lee’s memory will forever be treasured by his loving children, Jason P. Premo (Rebecca R.) and Rebecca L. Premo; grandchildren, James M., Jameson M., Anna C. and Sophia L. Premo; siblings, BG Gregory J. Premo, U.S. Army Ret. (Anne), Stephen S. Premo (Deborah), Christopher J. Premo (Sherry), David M. Premo (Lisa), and Randall S. Premo (Monica); and a number of adoring nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A funeral service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, October 15, 2018 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with Monsignor Fred Nijem officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at The Farmhouse at McCullough. Mr. Premo will be laid to rest at 12:00 p.m. in Andersonville National Cemetery.
