Harold Carvis Parks, a devoted family man, veteran, and man of faith, passed away on March 21, 2025.
Born and raised in Montezuma, Georgia, Harold dedicated his life to service, both to his country and his community. At a young age, he joined the National Guard before transitioning to the U.S. Navy, where he honorably served for 23 years, including during the Vietnam War. He retired as a Chief Petty Officer while living in Virginia Beach. Following his military retirement, he returned home to Georgia and worked in civil service at Robins Air Force Base for another 20 years of dedicated service before fully retiring. Harold loved attending the LST 32 Navy reunions each year.
Harold’s greatest passion was golf, and he found joy in spending time on the course. A longtime and devoted member of Unity Baptist Church, he actively served in his congregation and lived out his faith daily. He was a kind, humble, and witty man who loved to joke around, and bringing smiles to those around him.
A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Harold cherished his family, and the time spent with his children and grandchildren. He also had a deep love for Southern gospel music, attending numerous concerts and even enjoying several Southern gospel cruises. One of his favorite pastimes was sitting under the gazebo, listening to gospel music while admiring the flowers and the sounds of the birds. Harold’s legacy of faith, kindness, and dedication to family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He was preceded in death by parents, Carvis and Ruby Griggers Parks and brother, Troy Parks.
His memory will forever be treasured by his adoring wife, Rita Parks; children, Vicki Williams and Chris Huber (Stephanie); grandchildren, Zach Williams, Emma, Belcy and Bryce Huber; great grandchildren, Charlie and Huck Williams and brother, Kenneth Parks.
Visitation with Harold’s family will be Wednesday, March 26, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home.
