Hattie Jean Calihan Taylor

March 28, 1924 — July 10, 2016

Hattie Taylor entered into eternal rest on the morning of Sunday, July 10, 2016.

Hattie was born on March 28, 1924 in Roxana, Kentucky to the late Lloyd and Nora Calihan. Shortly after graduating from Whitesburg High School in Kentucky, she married the late Robert B. Taylor, and later dedicated her life to a career in raising her children and keeping their home.

An accomplished poet, Mrs. Taylor had a deep passion for writing poetry and won many awards, and even published a book. She was also a member of the Society of American Poets. Hattie was a devoted member of the International City Church of God, as well, where she taught Sunday School and was a charter member of the Ladies Ministries of ICCOG.

Hattie loved to stay busy. When she wasn't reading or writing poetry, she enjoyed volunteering at a nursing home where she called Bingo games and for many, many years, she was a bell ringer with the Salvation Army. Mrs. Taylor volunteered as a tax preparer for AARP and was a chaplain there, as well. She had a special place in her heart for each of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends, and will be deeply missed by them all.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by her beloved son, Roy D. Taylor.

Hattie leaves her memory behind with her loving children, Robert S. Taylor of Warner Robins, Sharron Kammerlohr of Warrensburg, Missouri, Ronnie Taylor of Santiago de Veraguas, Panama, and Donna Uitto of Warner Robins; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A private graveside memorial service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 16th at Magnolia Park Cemetery where she will be laid to rest.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Mrs. Taylor to Gentiva Hospice, 319 Margie Dr., Warner Robins, GA 31088.
