Mrs. Hazel J. Smith passed away on Thursday, April 24th, 2003 at the Medical Center of Central Georgia. Services will be held on Sunday, April 27th at 1:30pm at Bonaire First Baptist Church. Interment will be on Monday, April 28th at 3:00 pm in the Coleman Cemetery in Excel, Alabama. Visitation will be Saturday from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at McCullough Funeral Home.
Mrs. Smith was born in Frisco City, Alabama and had been an artist and a homemaker. She was a faithful wife and loving mother to her husband and children. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Bonaire where she was involved in a painting group and served on the Church History Committee. Additionally, she was a volunteer at the voting polls. Her parents, William Howell Hanks and Gertrude Lambert Hanks, and brother, Harvel Hanks, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, James C. Smith, Bonaire; son, Stephen Smith, Hoschton, GA; daughter, Sheila Pereski, Ringgold, GA; son, Jonathan Smith, Bonaire; grandsons, Luke Smith, Hoschton; Benjamin Pereski, Ringgold; granddaughter, Grace Pereski, Ringgold; sisters, Pauline Matthews, Alabama; Clonette Nall, Excel, AL; and brother, Evon Hanks, Excel, AL.
