On the morning of Wednesday, July 7, 2021, Helen A. Denny, 84, joined her Lord and Savior in heaven.
Born on June 30, 1937, Helen was raised in Bangor, Maine. She graduated from a Catholic high school before she met her husband while he was stationed in Bangor. Wedded in holy matrimony on January 18, 1958, together they traveled the world with his Air Force career. In the 70s while stationed in Biloxi, Mississippi, Helen attended Southern Mississippi College at night to earn her degree in teaching while working as a substitute teacher during the day. In 1980, the couple made Warner Robins their permanent residence and Helen began teaching at Bonaire Elementary before later transferring to Perdue Elementary where she worked until her retirement in 1997. Helen was a longtime and dedicated member of Central Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir, serving in her Sunday School class, and teaching in the International Ministry. She also was an avid reader but mostly, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Roland King and Yvonne Soucie King; five brothers; and two sisters.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her adoring husband of 63 years, Lawrence C. Denny; children, Leslie McCarty (Chris) of Denver, North Carolina; Lorianne Sandstrom (Dennis) of King, North Carolina; Lynn Pope (Ricky) of Big Canoe, Georgia; Larry Denny (Jamie) of Port Charlotte, Florida; and Chip Denny of Bonaire; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and siblings, Dennis King and Mary Bolshaw.
A private graveside service celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 10, 2021, in the Magnolia Park Mausoleum. For friends and family unable to attend, the service will be streamed live via the McCullough Funeral Home Facebook page at www.facebook.com/mcculloughfuneralhome/live/.
