Helen Esther McLean Daly peacefully entered into eternal rest on the evening of Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at the age of 87.
The daughter of the late Arthur and Sophie Madore McLean, Helen was born in Millinocket, Maine on July 1, 1936. She worked as a claim’s agent for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Maine for several years until her retirement in 1997.
Helen was a true "Down Easter” from Maine, who found her forever home in Byron, Georgia. She generously volunteered her time at the Warner Robins Senior Center and was part of the Centerville and Ted Wright Seniors. She forged meaningful connections with fellow seniors and embarked on memorable adventures together. Her dedication to community service also extended to her membership in the AARP.
Helen possessed a creative spirit and a passion for arts and crafts. She frequented craft fairs and delighted in the art of cake decorating, especially for weddings and showers, bringing joy and sweetness to special occasions. Her culinary talents extended beyond cakes as she enjoyed cooking and baking, especially for friends and family, and sharing her love through the joy of food. Nature also held a special place in Helen's heart. She found solace in feeding birds while marveling at their beauty and growing flowers and vegetables. She enjoyed different types of puzzles and games, especially Bingo. Helen's unwavering faith guided her throughout her life. She was a devoted member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, finding strength and peace in her spiritual community.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded by her sisters, Isabelle Shea, Dorothy Damush, and Gloria Perry.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her children, Cherie Nash (Stephen) of Standish, Maine; Nancy Siders (Randy) of Conifer, Colorado; Mary Ellen Daly (Frank Haygood) of Byron, Georgia; George Daly (Denise) of Moriah, New York; grandchildren, Zachary Siders (Lauren) of Gainesville, Florida; and Cory Daly (Madison) of Port Henry, New York; great-grandson, Daxton Daly; and brothers, Jackie McLean and Robert McLean.
