Henry Judson "Juddy" Thompson

Henry Judson (Juddy) Thompson, 80, of Hinton passed away Thursday, May 26, 2022. Henry had been a resident of Summers Health and Rehabilitation Center for the past two years.

Henry was born on July 22, 1941 in Atlanta, Georgia. He was the son of the late Abner Carl Thompson Sr. and Sadie Smith Thompson. Nicknamed "Juddy" at birth, Henry spent his early years on the family farm near Rhine, Georgia. The family moved to Warner Robins, Georgia when Henry was 11 years old.

Henry attended elementary, junior high, and high school in Warner Robins. After high school, Henry studied photography at North Georgia Technical School in Clarksville, Georgia. After completing photography school, Henry was drafted into the United States Army. He served as an Army photographer while based at Fort Knox, Kentucky, and was honorably discharged after two years of service. Henry continued to work in photography in the Atlanta area for many years until his retirement due to health problems.

Henry was strong in faith, and for many years, was a dedicated member of Mission Church of God in Atlanta, Georgia.

Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Abner C. Thompson, Sr. and Sadie Smith Thompson; and a younger brother, Billy Ray, who died in infancy.

Left to carry Henry's spirit are his younger brother, Abner Carl Thompson, Jr. of Hinton, WV; nephew, Brian Chapman (Jennifer) of Roswell, GA; nieces, Erin Thompson Hurst (Isaac) of Lewisburg, WV and Emily Thompson (Lucas) of Fayetteville, WV; great nieces and nephews, along with many cousins and their families; as well as numerous life-long friends who also survive Henry.

A memorial service honoring Henry's life will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in the Farmhouse of McCullough Funeral Home.
