Herbert “Randall” Mcalpin

June 4, 1931 — August 20, 2021

A veteran of the United States Air Force, Herbert “Randall” McAlpin, passed away on Friday, August 20, 2021. He was 90 years old.

Mr. McAlpin was born on June 4, 1931, in Fyffe, Alabama. He was the son of the late Herbert Clyde McAlpin and Nellie Truss McAlpin and grew up in DeKalb County, Alabama. Shortly after high school, he proudly joined the United States Air Force where he served for four years. Following his time in the service, Mr. McAlpin accepted a position at Robins Air Force Base. He retired as a Branch Chief Scheduler in 1990.

In Mr. McAlpin’s spare time, he loved gardening and woodworking, and made many “Bluebird Boxes” for his friends to enjoy. He could also fix anything with his hands and he liked to tinker.

In addition to his parents, Mr. McAlpin was preceded in death by three brothers.

He is survived by his wife of 72 years Margie Williams McAlpin; children, David McAlpin (Brenda) of Warner Robins; Norma Jackson (Stevie) of Milledgeville; grandchildren, Jonathan McAlpin (Amy), Tracey Gilbert (Gary), Matthew Jackson, and Morgan Jackson; great-grandchildren, Tucker and Charley Gilbert, Breitling Jackson; step great-grandchildren, Sophie Ethridge and Jorja Ethridge; and brother, Rayburn McAlpin (Barbara) of Huntsville, Alabama.

At the family’s request, all services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Herbert “Randall” McAlpin to the American Cancer Society, 804 Cherry Street, Ste. A, Macon, GA 31201.
