Herman Wilkes, 85, passed away on Friday, February 17, 2017.
Born in Ashburn, Georgia on May 5, 1931, Herman was the son to the late Henry and Martha Wilkes. He worked for Armstrong Corporation for 15 years before successfully owning and operating Dixie Seafood in Fort Valley for 20 years. In Herman's leisure time, he enjoyed fishing, Atlanta Braves baseball, and camping. He will always be remembered by his family as a loving father and doting grandfather and great-grandfather.
His memory will forever be treasured by his children, Glen Wilkes of Knoxville and Randall Wilkes of Bonaire; grandchildren, Angie Rogo, Randall Wilkes, Jr., Brandie Burgess, Autumn Wilkes, Jesse Wilkes, Brandon Wilkes, Glen Wilkes, Jr., and Elizabeth Wilkes; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Sunday, February 19th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 20th in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Afterwards, Herman will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
