Herschel F. Paulk, 77, died Wednesday, September 4, 2002 at his residence. Services will be held at 10:00am on Friday, September 6 at Bonaire First Baptist Church. Interment will follow at 2:00pm in Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald, Georgia. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00pm at McCullough Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Bonaire First Baptist Building Fund, 142 W Highway 96, Bonaire, GA 31005.
Mr. Paulk was born in Irwin County, Georgia. He was retired from the United States Army, having served in WWII and during the Korean War. During WWII he was a member of the 82nd Airborne, 307th Engineers and was a POW in Burma. Later, he was retired from Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base where he had been a Sheet Metal Mechanic. He was a member of the Order of Blue Blazers in the Combat Veteran’s Group out of Dublin, GA. He was a member of the 82nd Airborne Association, and a Lifetime Member of the VFW, the American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans. A member of Bonaire First Baptist Church, Mr. Paulk was part of the Men’s 3 Sunday School Class.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Anne Paulk, Bonaire; sons, Dave Paulk, Ft. Worth, TX; Joe Paulk, Fort Valley, GA; daughters, Dianne Nash, Rolesville, NC; Lakita Lamb, Hanesville, GA; Marcia Clark, Knoxville, GA; and ten grandchildren.
