Delacy Rogers, 84, died on Monday, January 18, 2021. But he is more alive than he ever was.
Delacy was born in Dodge County, Georgia on August 18, 1936, to the late Walter Uel and Hazel Mullis Rogers. A veteran of the United States Air Force, he proudly served his country. Following his honorable discharge from active duty, Delacy continued serving his country in Civil Service and as a contractor at Robins Air Force Base for forty-eight years.
Delacy is remembered as a man of integrity. He worked hard and loved everyone for who they were. In fifty years as a member of Shirley Hills Baptist Church, he served as a trustee, a deacon, and a Sunday School teacher. His top priorities were always his Lord Jesus and his family, all of whom he loved with a sacrificial love. Delacy was a gentleman and true role model for many; he was a godly husband, father, and grandfather.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of sixty years, Betsy Rogers of Perry; children April Tew (David) and Melanie Murphy (Wayne), both of Perry, and Jonathan Rogers (Lou Alice) of Nashville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Ian Tew, Ross Tew (Sara), Christina Hall (Shane), Lacy Murphy, Nathan Murphy, Ben Murphy, Mary Ross Murphy, Heyward Rogers, Henry Rogers, Lawrence Rogers, Margaret Rogers, William Rogers, and Betsy Rogers; three great-grandchildren; sisters Sylvia Rogers, Roslyn Brookins, Jan McTier (Russell) and Ginger Huff (Rob); and sister-in-law Nancy Holley (Buddy).
A memorial service celebrating the life of Heyward Delacy Rogers will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 20, 2021, at Shirley Hills Baptist Church, with Reverend Andy Cook officiating.
For friends unable to attend at this time, the service will be streamed live at Lifeatthehills.com/livestream.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Mr. Rogers to The Halo Group, P.O. Box 1078, Perry, GA 31069, halogroupga.org or to Heart of Georgia DDM, 238 Hatcher Rd., Warner Robins, GA 31088.
