Homer "Dealer" Downs Scott, 67, entered into rest on Monday, March 12, 2012.
Dealer Downs was born on August 29, 1944 in Thomaston, Georgia. A proud veteran of the United States Army, he was a very successful businessman. Before becoming an insurance agent, he was active in the car business where he wheeled and dealed. After his career in car sales, he went into the "oil business", better known as Scott Chevron. Dealer Downs also owned and operated the ever-popular restaurant, The Dealer Burger. He was a member of Crowell United Methodist Church, and will be greatly missed as a husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend of many. His parents, Henry Addis Scott and Frances Downs Scott, preceded him in death.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of forty-five years, Madelyn Ruth Montgomery Scott, Reynolds; children, Jeffrey Scott (Rhonda), Roberta, Jody Scott (Angela), Kathleen, and Jennifer Jo "J.J." Griffin, Perry; brother, Marshal Scott, Byron; sisters, Patsy Averett and Judy Spires, both of Columbus; and six grandchildren, Lindsey, Hunter, Jordan, Anabelle, Riley, and Connor.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 14, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Crowell United Methodist Church in Reynolds. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at Crowell United Methodist Church with interment following in Crowell United Methodist Church Cemetery. Reverend Wesley Jones and Mr. Bruce Goddard will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations to be made to Crowell United Methodist Church or Crowell United Methodist Church Cemetery, P.O. Box 266, Reynolds, GA 31076.
