Homer E. Hammond, 91, entered into rest on Sunday evening, January 15, 2012.
Mr. Hammond was born on February 26, 1920 in Covington, Georgia. He was a longtime, faithful member of Second Baptist Church. A former Deacon, he was involved in many activities throughout his membership at Second Baptist and even helped build the church when it was on Sixth Street. Homer retired from civil service at Robins Air Force Base where he worked as an Equipment Specialist Supervisor. His wife, Margaret Louise Bond Hammond; parents, Roy F. and Emily Mae Williams Hammond; sister, Frances Whitcomb; and brothers, Wesley and Preston Hammond, all preceded him in death.
His memory will forever be treasured by his sons, Eugene Hammond (Mae), Maitland, Florida; Jacky Hammond (Dianne), Macon; four grandchildren, three great grandchildren, one step grandchild, three step great grandchildren, and so many other loving family members and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 20, 2012 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with the Reverend Mike Slade officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Lithonia City Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Second Baptist Church, 2504 Moody Road, Warner Robins, Georgia 31088.
